Foundation is a light inspired by the brutalist architecture of Montréal, it’s construction methods, and how the character of materials shifts overtime. Made from a lightweight plaster and 5 identical powder-coated tubes, Foundation is a dramatic sculptural piece and brings a unique ambiance to a room. When the light is on, it casts downwards onto the bottom mass of plaster and reflects off the imperfect surfaces to disperse the light.
The two plaster masses start as a single scored block. Breaking this block allows for each light to be unique. Foundation also takes advantage of the plaster's weight to make the assembly as simple as dropping the tubes into the base and aligning the top piece.
